Variant for The Great Brain Robbery

Depending on how the early rolls and card draws go, Cheapass' The Great Brain Robbery can have lots of different endgames. Some of those endings are not particularly interesting. It's also pretty easy to get knocked so far back early on that one does not have much of a chance. To make it play more the way I think the game was intended, and to shorten it a little:

Also, dump the goofy rule that everyone fights in combat. When a player lands in a square with other players, he gets to choose his combat opponent (if he wants any at all, of course). Attacker still wins ties.
